Here is an update to this series of tiled abstract animals. A duck set has been discovered bringing the total number of shakers in this series to an odd number of eleven. Maybe more sets are out there to be found?
Ducks
Part of this series was originally documented by Irene Thornburg in her first book about salt and pepper shakers entitled Collecting Salt & Pepper Shaker Series in 1998 on page 57. At this time only the following five sets were known about:
Elephants
Bears
Dogs
Squirrels
Deer
Since then five additional sets have been found that belong to this series. Each set is about 4.25 inches in height with 3 and 2 pour holes. They are marked with a “Relco Japan” sticker. Circa 1950s-60s. They have identical mosaic tiled patterns decorating their surfaces. Here are the five additional sets:
Owls
Birds
Fish
Cats
Sheep
