If not for the label, these penguins could be easily confused with Alaska type pottery. However, these penguins were created out of the ash of Mount Saint Helens when it erupted in 1980. The set stands about 3.25'' in height and is marked "St. Helens Ashware".
Other sets made out of the ashes of St. Helens are out their, most famously the before & after set depicting the famous volcano.
Pigs were also created out of the ash of the eruption. Notice the identical whirling pattern in the pottery.
