During the occupation of Japan, sometime between 1947 and 1952, this wonderful set was allowed to be imported into the United States.
The set stands about 5'' tall. The top half of the chef is the mustard pot which is connected to the brick stove. And of course the large cooking pots act as the salt and pepper shakers.
