There are two variations of this unusual set documented so far.  At first it may appear that the set with the two females is wrong, but the shakers have in subtle but different poses and have different pour holes - 5 and 3.  The other set also have 5 and 3 pour holes.  Each stand about 4'' high.

These people look like neighbors conversing over a dividing fence.  The bases are marked with a sticker: "Hand Painted Ries Japan" and stamped Japan in black.  Circa 1950s-60s.
