Little Red Riding Hood
Cat and the Fiddle & Cow Jumping Over Moon
Old Woman in the Shoe
This classic series is a must to complete for all collectors. They are very popular because of their small miniature size - most standing around or under 2''. They are enjoyed because of the wonderful detail allowed by the hard bone china porcelain which they are made out of. And of course the subject matter being nursery rhymes that just brings everyone back to their childhood.
As you can see in some of the photos, these shakers came with a red and gold sticker that says "Bone China Salt Pepper Japan".
According to Irene Thornburg's book entitled Collecting Salt & Pepper Shaker Series from 1998, the shakers were sold in the 1960s by Enesco through Heather House News (Parkcraft's mail order division) and packaged originally in two groups of six sets each.
