The photographs do not do these sets justice. The quality of these sets is exquisite; therefore, even though these are stamped "Made in Japan" in red on the bottoms, I believe these are pre-WWII era Japanese imports.
Each sets stands 5'' in height and each shaker has 5 pour holes, but are no doubt correct pairs. The painting is precise and the detail in the faces are evident. The little duck at the feet of the man is a unique detail not found in the more ubiquitous examples of Asian themed people shakers that flooded the market place after WWII.
