Shaking on the Columbia 2011
The Northwest Shakers Will Travel chapter, with Louise Davis as Convention Chairperson, hosted a fun-filled, fantastic convention.
Members from around the world traveled to Vancouver, Washington to buy, sell and trade salt and pepper shakers. Other fun activities included auctions, costume contests, display contests and raffles. Many friendships were formed or renewed during the week of activities.

Costume Contest
The costume contest is one of the most popular contests of the convention. Smiles and laughter filled the convention ballroom as members paraded dressed as one of their favorite shaker sets. Per the contest rules the costumes must represent an entire shaker set - even in the one person categories.
Adult Costume Contest - One Person

Adult Costume Contest - Double Person

Junior Member Costume Contest - One Person

Display Contests
Shaker displays may be arranged in a variety of sizes. This year's creative contestants really outdid themselves.
Shoebox Display
Shoebox displays can be any number of shakers but they must fit inside a shoebox that is no larger than 7.5"x13"x5". Shakers or any part of the display cannot extend out of or above the box.

Small Display
Small displays are not more than 30 shakers and may not occupy more than half a 6' table.

Third Place: Veronique Verbist (Breakfast in Bed)

Fourth Place: Penny Reuben (Columbia River Cat Beach)

Medium Display
Medium displays are from 31 to 75 shakers and may not occupy more than half a 6' table.
First Place: Alison Greene (S & P Cinema)

Second Place: Melissa Franklin (Melissa's Restaurant)

Third Place: Audrey Martinson (Chattanooga Choo-Choo)

Fourth Place: Marjorie Keiser (Old Home Bakery)

Large Display
Large displays are more than 75 shakers and may not occupy more than a 6' table.
First Place: Kim Maddox (Life on Shaker Lane)

Junior Displays
Junior displays (for junior members only) are not more than 30 shakers and may not occupy more than half a 6' table.
First Place: Crystal Marks (Down by the Lake)

Second Place: Alex Marks (The Old West)

Third Place: Kennedy Ditmore (Ancient Egypt)

Shaker Theme Contest
Members bring shakers that represent their interpretation of the convention theme. This year's theme was "Shaking on the Columbia."
